Méribel: a unique ski resort at the heart of the largest ski area in the world

Meribel is a charming ski resort with traditional architecture, meaning you can stay in beautiful chalets made of only wood and stone. Surrounded by pine trees, Meribel is the most beautiful of the Three Valley resorts.

The Three Valleys is the largest ski area in the world. It is made up of 8 fantastic resorts and covers 600km of piste. It includes Courchevel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Saint Martin de Belleville, La Tania, Orelle, Brides les Bains and of course, the heart of the Three Valleys, Meribel.

In addition to its beautiful architecture, Meribel is a skiing paradise. There is something for every taste.

There are areas ideal for children and beginners including Family Cool at Meribel Altiport, the Elements Park and the Yeti Park. These areas have gentle slopes and play areas suitable for children. While the Three Valleys is an enormous ski area, it is still a great place to learn to ski. It is possible to ski from Courchevel to Meribel and all the way over to Les Menuires, Saint Martin, Val Thorens and Orelle by only taking blue or green pistes.

There are plenty of wide open spaces for experienced skiers who are looking for powder!

For lovers of groomed trails, there are a wide variety of pistes for you to carve like a champion on!

The resort is made up of several different hamlets and there is an area guaranteed to suit everyones needs!

Les Allues

The historic village of the valley which has been here since before the opening of the ski resort. The mix of old houses and modern chalets forms an authentic village. There is a little shop where you can buy food. There are three restaurants in the village: Tsaretta, L’Arbe and En’k. There is also a ski hire shop with ski lockers. There is a free ski bus and the Olympe gondola which take you up to Meribel Centre in just 15-20 minutes.

Chandon, Nangerel, Le Raffort

Situated between Les Allues and Meribel Centre, these three areas are exclusively residential. You can find large chalets of varying levels of comfort. These areas are families who are looking for peace and tranquility after skiing. It is possible to return to these villages by ski and you can reach Meribel Centre by either the free ski bus or the Olympe gondola.

Mussillon

At the entrance to Meribel Centre, this area is close to the heart of the resort. It is just below the centre and is filled with large chalets. There are lots of amenities close by, including the Spar supermarket, the Cooperative de Beaufort where you can buy the best alpine cheese and O’Sullivans bar which offers a large selection of craft beer. It is an english bar which is known for it’s lively parties.

Méribel Village

Contrary to what the name might suggest, Meribel Village is not the centre of the station. In reality, it is situated slightly away from the rest of the resort and allows you to enjoy a calm evening after you return from skiing. The central area of the village has a bakery and a well known bar/restaurant, the Lodge du Village.

Méribel Centre

The heart of the station. Here you can find La Chaudanne, the snow front, where the majority of the ski lifts are. There are also numerous bars, restaurants, ski shops, spas, a supermarket, bakery, pharmacy, tourist office etc. It is the most vibrant place in the resort and where you can have a lively evening of apres-ski.

Morel, 1600, Plateau

Situated above Meribel Centre, this area offers great west facing views looking towards Tougnete. There are both apartments and chalets in this area with most of the residences giving easy access to the pistes; either by taking the blue Doron piste or by taking the Morel chairlift.

Rond Point

The Rond Point is an area which overlooks Meribel centre, 1600 and Plateau. With a south west views onto the mountains and direct access to the pistes, this is a great area in which you can enjoy your holiday to the maximum. There are several ski hire shops here and good restaurants, including Le Cepe ( which is highly recommended) and the Bistrot de l’Oree. Furthermore, the Rond Point bar is great if you like to party, especially if you enjoy a British atmosphere.

Altiport

At an altitude of 1850m, Meribel altiport is a calm area. Within the area there is a ski shop, a restaurant and a snack bar. The residences here are all ski in ski out and have direct access to the Family Cool Area. It’s the ideal location if you have children who are learning to ski. You are also in the perfect position to watch planes taking off from the snowy airport runway, which is an amazing spectacle!

La Rosière

Between Meribel and Motteret, this area allows you to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. If you are looking for a secluded chalet in the mountains to help you recharge then this is the perfect place for you.
